As government initially submitted 2010 Gender Budget Statement to National Assembly according to the National Finance Act, National Assembly Budget Office(NABO) published a report named to ‘An Analysis on 2010 Gender Budget Statement’, so as to support deliberation of gender-sensitive budget at National Assembly.

Gender Budget Statement for the 2010 fiscal year including 7.3 trillion won covers 29 institutions and 195 businesses. Although effort to take gender-budget approach in this statement was regarded as meaningful, it is insufficient in the sense of overall national fiscal management. In addition, some challenges entailed in establishing Gender dis-aggregated statistics and analyzing cause of gender diffidence, suggesting not only alternatives but also target level.

For stabilizing Gender sensitive budget, it is required for Ministry of Strategy and Finance, government departments to increase public awareness of this issue. In addition, improvement of propelling system as well as form related to gender budget statement is also significant. National Assembly should put in concerted effort to seek legal or institutional supplements for deliberation procedure and to include funds in Gender budget statement.
