    The economic activities of the population are a crucial source of tax revenue. Therefore the budget needs to be managed soundly and efficiently. In order to settle the budget effectively considering economic conditions and to improve the financial transparency of the implementation process, it is imperative that rational decisions be made based on exact financial statistics. However, when it comes to financial institutions and their statistics, they are not only difficult to understand, but also hard to access. Therefore, NABO has published "National Finance of Korea 2012" in order to improve understanding of financial institutions and statistics for decision-making regarding national finance.
    This book features explanations of major financial institutions and information about allocation and implementation of the national budget. Also, it provides various information regarding the 325.4 trillion won that made up the budget in fiscal year 2012. It is full of articles about pending issues in national finance and the major programs in each government department, and it includes intuitive tables and graphs.
    This books falls into 3 chapters. Chapter 1 summarizes the national financial system and institutions of Korea. Chapter 2 elucidates the main contents and features of 2012 national finance, and provides details on the deliberation process of the National Assembly. Chapter 3 analyzes the finalized budget, deliberation record of the budget, and major program of 50 executive agencies and these contents are sorted into 16 standing committees.
